India could get three new solar power projects in Orissa following a ruling by an Indian technical committee.

The plants are expected to boost the state’s renewable energy sector, according to India’s Business Standard newspaper.

The plants will increase the state’s total solar power capacity to 54MW.

The committee has already approved Lanco Solar’s 5MW solar plant in Cuttack, Sunark Solar’s 5MW power plant in Puri and SREI Infrastructure’s 5MW solar power plant in Bolangir.

Orissa also approved Moserbaer’s 5MW solar photo voltaic project and Sahara India’s 5MW solar power plant in the state in the first phase.
