Marchwood Power Station Officially Opens

A new £380m natural gas-fired power station near Southampton, England, will be officially opened today. Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE), which has a 50% stake in the site, said it could generate enough electricity to supply about one million homes. The facility at Marchwood

A new £380m natural gas-fired power station near Southampton, England, will be officially opened today.

Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE), which has a 50% stake in the site, said it could generate enough electricity to supply about one million homes.

The facility at Marchwood has been operating since December supplying Southampton, Winchester and the New Forest with power.

The station is next to Southampton Water on Marchwood Industrial Estate.
