Russia's Rosatom said it will extend funding to build the Belene nuclear power plant in Bulgaria, until a new strategic investor can be found.

The 2,000MW plant in Danube is being built by Atomstroyexport, a Rosatom company.

Bulgaria's economy and energy minister Traicho Traikov said the details on funding will be worked out next month, reports Reuters.

Rosatom said it is willing to become a shareholder in the project in addition to providing the loan.
