Terra-Gen Plans California Wind Project

Power company Terra-Gen has received funding to build its 150MW Alta Wind I project in Tehachapi, California. The Alta Wind I will house GE 1.5 SLE wind turbine generators, part of the 3,000MW Alta Wind Energy Center, which is one of the largest wind development projects in the US.

The Alta Wind I will house GE 1.5 SLE wind turbine generators, part of the 3,000MW Alta Wind Energy Center, which is one of the largest wind development projects in the US.

Once complete, Alta Wind I will deliver energy to South California Edison from early 2011 as a part of a 1,550MW power purchase agreement.

The funds include a seven-year construction and term loan, a bridge loan to the ITC cash grant from the US Department of Energy and ancillary credit facilities.
