The US will host a meeting of major economies in Washington later this month to advance talks on a global deal to fight climate change.

The gathering will take place on April 18 and 19 and the organisers hope it will lead to agreements on issues left unresolved after the Copenhagen summit in December, reports ITN news.

Uncertainty remains over whether a legally binding deal to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases can be reached by the end of this year.
