GDF Suez subsidiary, EnerSur will supply a total 662MW to Peru's power grid after winning four bids in a long-term energy auction by Peruvian distribution firms.

EnerSur will supply energy for the grid from a new 112MW Quitaracsa I hydroelectric plant and from expanded capacity of GDF Suez’s existing ChilcaUno thermal power plant.

The Quitaracsa I facility will be built near Lima and is expected to be a part of the national grid.

The ChilcaUno plant will be converted into a combined cycle plant in order to increase its capacity by 270MW reaching a total of about 800MW.

GDF Suez said it plans to invest €450m ($605m) in the two projects.
