Gas Natural has launched a 425MW gas-fired power plant in Spain.

The €500m ($666m) plant, installed by GE, is the first of two 425MW units Gas Natural plans to build in Barcelona, adjacent to a regasification plant owned by Enagas.

The plant will use cold water from the neighbouring regasification plant to cool hot water.

Spain is the world's third-largest importer of liquefied natural gas via six regasification plants.
