Canada's AltaGas Income Trust will supply power from its proposed Forrest Kerr hydro power project to BC Hydro, under a 60-year Electricity Purchase Agreement (EPA).

The 195MW run-of-river hydro-electricity generation project in northwest British Columbia, is first of three AltaGas hydropower projects in the area.

Once complete, Forrest Kerr will provide enough electricity for about 70,000 homes and offset over 450,000 tons of greenhouse gas equivalent a year, the company said.

The Forrest Kerr Project is due to be operational in 2014 and will deliver power to the terminus point of a proposed 287kV Northwest Transmission Line (NTL) in British Columbia, Canada.
