US-based Alternate Energy Holdings and Hyperion Power Generation have teamed up to manufacture Hyperion's refrigerator-sized modular nuclear reactors.

Under the memorandum of understanding (MoU), the JV will licence, build and market 25MW Hyperion power modules worldwide.

The modules can be used across a range of industries including hospitals, desalination plants, emergency facilities, industrial parks, factories and military bases.

The power plants can be adapted to increase power supplies in the future, AEHI said.
