Iberdrola Renovables has received US Government grants totalling $109m for the start up of its Peñascal II wind farm.
The 202MW Peñascal II wind farm is part of the Peñascal wind complex operated by the firm with an installed capacity of 404MW.
The Peñascal complex comprises two wind farms, Peñascal I and Peñascal II, and is fitted with 168 Mitsubishi MHI 92 wind turbines of 2.4MW class.
The complex prevents emissions of some 120,000t of CO2.
With the new grant, the total amount of renewable energy approved by the US Government for the firm’s wind power projects totals to $976m.
