Hyundai Heavy Industries will build 175MW of solar power plants for Matinee Energy for $700m.

By the end of 2012, HHI will build two solar power plants, a 150MW unit in Dragoon and a 25MW facility in Cochise.

Under the engineering procurement and construction (EPC) contract, Hyundai will supply the entire system ranging from design, manufacture, and installation to test-run.

Solar modules for the project will be manufactured at Hyundai's Eumseong plant in South Korea.

The deal is part of Matinee Energy's project to build solar power plants to generate a combined 900MW in the California and Arizona regions.
