Wärtsilä will supply equipment for four power plants generating a combined 300MW in Bangladesh, under four orders received by the firm worth a total of over €100m.

In July 2010, Guangdong Power Engineering Corporation (GPEC), on behalf of Bangladesh Power Development Board, ordered Wärtsilä equipment for two power plants being developed in Dohazari and Hathazari.

The Dohazari plant will be powered by six Wärtsilä 18V46GD gas-diesel engines and will generate 102MW, while the Hathazari plant will operate on 11 Wärtsilä 20V32GD gas-diesel engines, producing 98MW.

In August 2010, Wärtsilä received orders for 11 Wärtsilä 20V32 engines and auxiliary equipment for two other power plants to be built at Noapora and Northern Katakhali, which will add about 100MW to the grid.

The firm received the Noapora order from Khanjahan Ali Power and the Katakhali order from Northern Power Solution.
