Scottish & Southern Energy (SSE) intends to restart production at its Glendoe hydroelectric plant in the first half of 2012, following its shutdown in August 2009 due to rock falls.

Construction of new tunnels at the plant is currently underway.

The rock falls had partially blocked the main tunnel, carrying water from the reservoir to the power station, constricting SSE's total power output.

The utility may also delay the startup of the 350MW Clyde onshore wind farm due to issues concerning the impact of the turbines on the local air transport radar system.
