US-based Bergamo Acquisition Corp has formed a joint venture with Esoft Informatics to set up a 100MW thermal power plant worth $400m in India.

The plant, to be built in the state of Himachal Pradesh, will create jobs for around 10,000 people in the region.

Bergamo president and CEO Hillard Herzog said "The company is also setting up a consumer-cum-retail division in technical collaboration with Suntrough Technologies to provide cost-effective high-quality solar products, which will reduce energy consumption," Hillard Herzog said.

The production unit to manufacture solar products is expected to be set up by March 2011 and solar products will be launched in April.
