French technology major Alstom has won a contract to supply transformers for 2.1GW Ezhou power plant in China.
Awarded by Hubei Energy Group, the Ezhou power plant phase three generator step-up transformer contract requires Alstom to deliver the equipment for this expansion of the thermal power facility.
Located in the Gedian Economic Development Zone, the station delivers power to the city of Wuhan in China.
Alstom will manufacture the transformers at its facility in Wuhan.
Alstom Grid senior vice-president for the China and East Asia Pacific Region Michel Serra said: "We are honoured to start the first cooperation with Hubei Energy Group in transformer business, providing Alstom’s advanced technology expertise, strong R&D capability and excellent local manufacturing capacity.
"We are looking forward to continue supporting and contributing to the energy development of Hubei Province."
The transformers will be the highest capacity transformers in the country and the first three-phase generator transformers developed by Alstom for China, claimed the company.
