BioSolar, a developer of bio-based materials taken from renewable plant sources, has announced it is in the final stages of selecting a manufacturer for the full-scale production of its BioBacksheet product line for North American customers.

The company has secured quotes from qualified manufacturers, and is expected to name its supplier for initial orders soon.

Stanley Levy, BioSolar chief technology officer, said the company has carefully chosen and reviewed a number of major manufacturers, and will soon select the best fit for BioSolar.

"All of the candidates being considered have state-of-the-art equipment and the know-how to manufacture BioBacksheet to the extremely high standards demanded by our PV customers," said Levy.

"We have entered into contract negotiations and expect to sign an agreement with a supplier for our North American customers within 30 days."

Furthermore, David Lee, BioSolar chief executive officer, said the company will implement internal quality control and measurement standards, develop logistics for shipping and handling products and build its marketing and sales infrastructure.

"This is a challenging endeavour, but I firmly believe we are on track to achieve commercial success," Lee said.
