EDF Renewable Services to provide assistance to the 81MW Bishop Hill II wind project in US

EDF Renewable Services will provide operations and maintenance services for the 81MW Bishop Hill II Wind Project in the US state of Illinois.

EDF Renewable Services will provide operations and maintenance services for the 81MW Bishop Hill II Wind Project in the US state of Illinois.

The company has inked a multi-year agreement with Bishop Hill Energy II, a subsidiary of both MidAmerican Energy and MidAmerican Renewables.

Located near the town of Galva, the project contains 50 General Electric (GE) 1.62MW wind turbines and it has a 20-year power purchase agreement with Ameren Illinois, a US-based energy utility.

Construction for the project started in the fourth quarter of 2011, while it began operation in November and achieved commercial operation in December 2012.

Under the terms of the contract, the US-based firm will provide selected operations and maintenance services for wind turbine generators.

The company will also provide 24/7 remote monitoring service from its North American Electric Reliability Corporation compliant Operations Control Center.

EDF Renewable Services executive vice president Larry Barr remarked that the latest contract marks the company’s first operations and maintenance agreement with MidAmerican Renewables.

"We are pleased to enter into the agreement and extend our long-term relationship with MidAmerican to this project," Barr said.

"This agreement demonstrates continued confidence in our ability to provide cost effective operations and maintenance services for our valued customers."

Earlier this month the company signed a multi-year service agreement with PacifiCorp for three wind projects in the Wyoming state – 99MW High Plains, 28.5MW McFadden Ridge I and 111MW Dunlap I.

EDF Renewable Services provides O&M services to over 6,000MW of wind and solar projects across North America.
