Green Field Power Generation has signed lease agreements with SandRidge Exploration and Production and Patriot Power Solutions to supply 41MW of power generation capacity over two years.

As per the deals, Green Field will provide 16 1MW generators to SandRidge Exploration and Production and 25 1MW generators to Patriot Power Solutions.

Green Field said that the turbine generators will run on field gas and provide low-cost, cleaner-burning power generation solutions.

The generators will be used to power electric submersible pumps (ESPs) and other production-related well site equipment, utilising natural gas produced onsite in the field.

Green Field said that excess power produced from the generators may be sold to the electrical grid.

Green Field Power Generation chairman and CEO Michel Moreno said the two agreements represent the first major deployment of turbine generators for production purposes, following a collaborative effort between Green Field and SandRidge to achieve the performance criteria requested by SandRidge.

"Our turbine generators require a lower upfront capital investment than traditional diesel-powered generators and offer significant additional savings over the life of the generator due to their ability to run on natural gas, a lower-cost and cleaner-burning fuel source," Moreno added.
