Description

The project was developed by Walney (UK) Offshore Windfarms. Orsted, Greencoat UK Wind and PGGM are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 50.1%, 25.1% and 24.8% respectively.

The wind turbines in the Walney Phase I are installed on fixed foundations. An array of monopile foundations feature in the phase.

The project generates 1,326,000MWh electricity and supplies enough clean energy to power 320,000 households.

Power purchase agreement

The power generated from the project is sold to Statkraft under a power purchase agreement for a period of 2 years. The contracted capacity is 91.98MW.

Contractors involved

Walney (Walney Phase I) is equipped with Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy SWT-3.6-107 turbines. The phase consists of 51 turbines with 3.6MW nameplate capacity.

Walney (Walney Phase II) is equipped with Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy SWT-3.6-120 turbines. The phase consists of 51 turbines with 3.6MW nameplate capacity.

Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy is the O&M contractor for the wind power project.
