China’s Shanghai Electric has signed a $10bn contract to supply coal-fired generators to India’s Reliance Power.
Shanghai Electric will provide 42 coal-fired thermal-generation units, each of 660MW capacity, and related services over the next three years.
The deal surpasses the recent $750m contract awarded by Reliance to GE for gas turbine power equipment and highlights China’s increased targeting of the developing world for orders.
