GE will supply four gas turbines for the Omotosho Phase 2 Power Plant in Ondo State, south-western Nigeria.
GE will provide four Frame 9E gas turbines, generators, accessories, technical assistance and training to the EPC contractor for the project, China Machinery & Equipment Company (CMEC).
The 9E gas turbine has flexible handling capabilities and can be powered by a range of fuels including natural gas, light and heavy distillate oil, naphtha, crude and residual oil.
The new plant, owned and operated by the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN), would add over 500MW to Nigeria’s grid when it enters into service in 2013.
The project will enable Nigeria to deliver reliable electric power, alleviate power shortages and reduce the number of blackouts.
The Nigerian Government plans to add 35,000MW of new electricity generation over the next ten years.
Planned shipment for the four 9E gas turbines for Omotosho Phase 2 is mid-2011.
