AEP Ohio, an American electric power unit, has signed a long-term power purchase agreement for wind energy with Paulding Wind Farm II, a Horizon Wind Energy subsidiary.
Under the 20-year agreement, AEP Ohio will purchase the whole output of the 99MW wind farm in Paulding County, Ohio, US.
The project comprises 55 V100-1.8MW turbines manufactured by Vestas and is expected to come on-stream by mid-summer 2011.
Review of the agreement will be included in AEP Ohio’s upcoming ESP filing and it is subject to approval from the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio.
AEP Ohio president and chief operating officer Joseph Hamrock said: “incorporating renewable energy resources such as wind into its generation fleet fits with the company’s vision and that of the state.”
