Sempra Generation, a Sempra Energy subsidiary, has completed construction on the 48MW Copper Mountain Solar facility in Boulder City, Nevada, US.

The plant will feature about 775,000 thin-film photovoltaic solar panels, which convert sunlight directly into electricity.

First Solar supplied the solar panels to the plant, which is now generating enough electricity to power about 14,000 average homes.

Power from the facilityhas been purchased by Pacific Gas & Electric under a 20-year agreement.
