John Wood Group subsidiary Wood Group has received a $875m engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract from Dorad Energy to build an 800MW power plant in Israel.
Under the contract, Wood Group will be responsible for the combined-cycle plant with its scope of work including design, procurement and construction until the plant is handed over to Dorad Energy.
The plant will utilise 12 natural gas-fired turbines connected to a heat-recovery steam generator, which will provide steam to run two steam turbines.
Wood Group claims that the combined-cycle turbine technology offers improved emissions as compared with coal-fired technology.
The plant is expected to become operational within 36 months, representing 8% of Israel’s total installed power generation capacity, once completed.
