Pakistan will save over PKR10bn ($115m) in power transmission and fuel transportation through the KARKEY’s Power Ship docked at Karachi over a five-year contract period.

The Power Ship, a ship-mounted power project, is directly connected to the Karachi grid to ensure a 93% guaranteed physical supply of electricity, reports Dailytimes.

The 230MW power project, next to KESC grid provides significant stability to the system to aid in reducing power failures in the country.

Transmission savings over rental-period come to over PKR6.61bn ($80m) while fuel transportation savings over the same period stand at over PKR5bn ($60m).

The National Transmission Dispatch Company (NTDC) losses range between 6% and 8% depending on voltage level, transmission distance and transformation mechanisms, which will be saved through power ship.
