Recurrent Energy has started the commercial operation of a 5MW solar power system in San Francisco, California, US, atop the Sunset Reservoir.

Power from the solar facility is being supplied to the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC), under a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).

The system comprising 24,000 solar panels will more than triple San Francisco’s total solar generating capacity.

Electricity from the system will be used by the City and County of San Francisco’s municipal services and facilities, such as the airport, light rail, and city buildings.
