A-Power has begun the construction of a new heat and power generation plant for Jinzhou Mengguzhen Thermo Electric.

The plant is being constructed under an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract worth RMB699.4m ($105m), signed between the two firms in September 2010.

The power generation plant will support the development of Jinzhou Economic and Technology Development Zone by providing heat to nine manufacturing enterprises and supplying additional electric power in the zone.

Three circulating fluidised bed boilers, with a total capacity to consume 240 metric tons of bio-waste per hour, will be included in the plant along with two 25MW back pressure steam turbine generators.

The plant is expected to be completed in 2012.
