Mahagenco and MSETCL have signed an agreement to transmit 613,000 units to be generated in a solar power project at the Chandrapur Super Thermal Power Station site in Maharashtra, India.
With the success of its first solar power plant of 1MW capacity functioning on the CSTPS premises, Mahagenco plans to construct an additional 4MW solar power project at the same site, according to the Times Of India.
Megha Engineering and Infrastructure will build the grid interactive solar PV power plant using thin film technology to generate 2MW for the project, while Instant Energy will build another 2MW plant using crystalline technology.
The first plant will cost INR240m ($5.1m), while the second will be worth INR250m ($5.3m) with the total project expected to be completed by July 2011.
Mahagenco has already signed sales agreement with NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam to sell the electricity generated from this solar project.
