Metso will deliver a biomass boiler plant for combined heat and power production (CHP) to Porvoon Energia for Tolkkinen, Finland.

The plant will produce 38MW of heat for the Porvoo area and 12MW of electricity for the national grid.

The biomass boiler plant will make use of the bubbling fluidised bed (BFB) technology and will use wood chips, bark and saw dust as the main fuel source.

The order, worth about €15m ($22m), will be ready during the first quarter of 2013.

The firm produces about 70% of its electricity in green power and uses a range of biomass-based fuels for generating heat and electricity.
