Duke Energy and Sun Edison have completed the final phase of the 17.2MW solar farm in North Carolina, US.
Both firms have signed a solar energy service agreement to build the facility.
Under the agreement, Sun Edison has designed and deployed the project and will be responsible for the ongoing operations and maintenance.
The solar farm has 63,000 photovoltaic solar panels and has been constructed in five phases on 0.8km² of land.
The plant is expected to generate 28 million kiloWatthours of energy every year to supply power to more than 2,600 homes.
Duke Energy North Carolina president Brett Carter said the partnership with SunEdison had allowed Duke Energy to comply with North Carolina’s solar requirements in a cost-effective way.
MetLife and Bank of America Merrill Lynch have provided lease financing to the project.
