The Environmental Unit of the Municipality of San Marco de Colon in Honduras, Central America, has approved Minerco Resources’s 100MW Sayab Wind Project.

Once operational, the wind farm is projected to generate $48m per year.

In January 2011, Minerco signed an agreement to acquire the project from Energia Renovable Hondurenas.

The approval is an important step in the process to secure the congressional approval for the project.

Construction on the project is expected to begin in 2013.
