Malaysia is exploring a tie-up with India’s Centre for Wind Energy Technology (C-WET) to utilise its technical expertise in the field.

C-WET is a centre for wind-energy development that aims to help make India self-reliant in the power sector and is a part of the country’s New and Renewable Energy Ministry.

Malaysian minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Datuk Seri Maximus Ongkili, told Malaysian national news agency Bernama that India has a world-standard advanced wind-energy development programme that has good resource potential for Malaysia.

At present, India has about 13,000MW installed capacity in wind power, which generates about 1.6% of the nation’s power capacity.
