A Korean consortium of Korea Electric Power Corp (KEPCO), Hyundai Corporation and Hyundai Engineering, will build power transmission lines in Kazakhstan.

Under a $46m deal with Kazakhstan Electricity Grid Operating Company, the consortium will construct 327km of 220kV lines to a hydropower plant, reports the Yonhap News Agency.

The plant is expected to be completed by October 2011.

With the order, KEPCO will be able to strengthen its presence as an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) provider in Kazakhstan’s power market.
