SunEdison will construct 31MW of solar photovoltaic (PV) projects for The Ontario Power Authority (OPA).
The firm will build two 10MW projects in Rideau Lakes, one 10MW plant in South Stormont, one 500kW project in Mississauga and one 500kW project in Whitby.
The projects are expected to generate about 47,000MWh in the first year and 873,000MWh over 20 years, sufficient to power 76,000 average Canadian homes for one year.
SunEdison will finance, build, operate, monitor and maintain all the photovoltaic solar energy systems in Ontario.
The projects are part of the province’s landmark Feed-in Tariff (FIT) programme, under which the companies sell the electricity for a fixed price for 20 years.
