AES has reached financial closure on the Mountain View IV wind project built in Palm Springs, California, US.
The 49MW plant will increase AES’ total wind capacity to 200MW.
The wind farm will comprise 49 Mitsubishi MHI MWT62/1.0 1MW wind turbine generators, and will be placed on 60m towers in compliance with the height parameters set forth by the City of Palm Springs.
The project is owned by AES Wind Generation, an AES subsidiary, and debt financing for the project has been underwritten by MUFG Power & Utilities Group.
The firm has also signed a power purchase agreement with Southern California Edison to sell power generated from the plant at a fixed price for a period of 20 years.
The plant is expected to be operational by the end of 2011.
