San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) has signed a 25-year power purchase agreement with Tenaska Solar Ventures subsidiary, CSOLAR Development for 150MW of solar power.
Under the contract, power from Imperial Solar Energy Center (ISEC) West’s proposed solar energy facility in California, US, will be supplied to SDG&E.
The 200MW solar power plant will supply other utility-scale solar power projects throughout the US’s desert southwest and use Soitec’s Concentrix concentrated photovoltaic (CPV) technology for the project.
The development will produce power to serve more than 55,000 households a year.
Solar power from the ISEC West project will be supplied to SDG&E’s Imperial Valley substation and transmitted over the utility’s Sunrise Powerlink transmission line that is under construction and is due to be completed in 2012.
