Private Equity Fund Manager Platina Partners and developer Akis Ellinas have opened the Orites wind farm in Cyprus.
The 82MW project is the country’s first wind energy project and will provide 8% of its entire electricity generation capacity.
The €170m wind farm, spread over a 16km² area, is located in the South West of the Republic of Cyprus and houses 41 Vestas V90 2MW turbines.
Orites will avoid carbon emissions of 100,000t and supply power to about 25,000 households in Cyprus.
The project has been funded through debt financing from Commerzbank, ING and NordLB and the European Investment Bank.
