China-based A-Power Energy Generation Systems signed a $19m contract to develop the first phase of a biomass power generation plant in Shandong province, China.
As part of the first phase, A-Power will act as the engineering, procurement and construction contractor for the power project located in the Yangxin county.
A-Power will develop a 12MW biomass power generation plant, which will use waste straw to generate electricity for the provincial grid.
The plant, scheduled to be complete by the end of the year, is owned by Yangxin County Jinyuan Biomass Thermal Power Generation.
A-Power is a provider of distributed power generation systems and a manufacturer of wind turbines.
