Doosan Power Systems is to invest up to £170m ($277.2m) in its Scottish operations over the next ten years, supported by Scottish Enterprise.
Doosan and Scottish Enterprise signed a memorandum of understanding to set up an R&D Centre of Excellence for Renewables at the Doosan site at Westway in Renfrew, near Glasgow.
In the second phase, the firms will advance a further proposal to establish assembly and manufacturing facilities in Scotland.
The initiative will contribute to Scotland’s growing wind industry and help strengthen its position as a global centre of renewable excellence.
Doosan Power Systems CEO Jean-Michel Aubertin said that together the firms hope to develop cutting-edge wind power technology to strengthen the role of renewables in the energy mix.
