SNC-Lavalin will provide its engineering, procurement and construction management services for the Muskrat Falls Hydroelectric Development in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada.
The hydropower project will comprise a generating facility for 824MW and is a part of Phase I of the Lower Churchill Project by Nalcor.
The transmission system for the project will include 1,200km of high voltage direct current overhead transmission lines from Labrador to Newfoundland through sub-sea cables and associated converter stations.
The project will also include high voltage alternating current overhead transmission lines that will link the Muskrat Falls facility to the Churchill Falls Generating Station.
SN-Lavalin will commence work on the project immediately.
