Pattern Energy Group and Samsung Renewable Energy have together acquired land from the Suncor Energy’s Fargo Wind Project and a nearby wind development project from Northland Power.
Pattern and Samsung will add these two projects to the 270MW South Kent Wind Farm located in Ontario, Canada, which they are jointly developing.
Pattern CEO Mike Garland said that the two companies will be able to accelerate the development of these projects by combining them with their nearby South Kent Wind Farm and its transmission connection.
Samsung senior executive vice-president Cheol-Woo Lee said, “Together with Pattern, we are making major progress on our goal to bring new sources of wind energy to Ontario. In addition, we are closing on thousands of acres in south-western Ontario and the Bruce region for the development of more than 500MW of wind power.”
