China has set a target to double its installed photovoltaic power capacity by 2015.

An official from the research arm of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) told Shanghai Securities News that the country plans to increase its PV capacity to 10GW over the next five years.

The government has also raised the target for the installed solar capacity target to 50GW for 2020 from the previous target of 20GW.

NDRC will soon release a five-year blueprint for China’s photovoltaic power industry as well as a policy framework for the sector, reports Reuters.
