Larsen and Toubro (L&T) has secured a contract worth INR350bn ($7.76bn) from PPN Power Generating Company for the construction of a 1,080MW gas-based power plant in Tamil Nadu, India.
The three units of 360MW each will be set up as an expansion project in the same location where PPN is presently operating a 330.5MW combined-cycle power plant.
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries of Japan will provide the advanced class gas turbines and high efficiency steam turbines to be installed in the plant.
L&T-Sargent and Lundy, a subsidiary of L&T, will be responsible for integration and detailed engineering of the plant, using the propriety technology of Sargent & Lundy, reports The Economic Times.
