Wind Capital has awarded RMT a contract to design and construct its 201MW Post Rock Wind Energy Facility in central Kansas, US.
RMT will provide engineering, procurement, and civil and electrical infrastructure construction services for installation of the wind turbines at the location.
Work will include construction of roads, crane paths and pads, turbine foundations, an underground collector system, in-tower wiring, and two meteorological towers.
RMT will also carry out mechanical turbine installation, tower erection, and testing and inspections.
Under a power purchase agreement approved by Kansas Corporation Commission, Westar Energy will buy the electricity generated from the plant.
Construction of the project is scheduled to commence this year and commercial operations will begin by the second half of 2012.
Upon completion, the plant will be capable of generating electricity sufficient to power 70,000 homes.
