Construction will soon begin on a third electricity transmission line between Iran and Armenia.

More than $110m in funding has been sought for the project, which has a capacity of 800-900MW. It is expected to increase the exchange of electricity between the neighbouring nations from the current 300MW to 500-800MW, reports IRNA.

Iranian energy minister Majid Namjoo also announced that an Iranian consortium will develop two hydroelectric plants of 180MW each, worth $450-500m, in Iran and Armenia on the Aras River.
