Abengoa will construct Mexico’s first solar-thermal power plant in Agua Prieta for the country’s Federal Electricity Commission.
The facility will be one of the first solar and gas-fired hybrid power plants in the world.
Abengoa will initially develop the Agua Prieta II concentrated solar power plant, which will comprise a 12MW solar field, reports Bloomberg.
The second phase of the project includes the construction of a 464.4MW combined cycle plant comprising two gas turbines, one steam turbine, a heat exchanger, cooling, condensing and power systems, and auxiliary equipment and systems.
The plant is expected to commence operations within 22 months.
