The Syrian Ministry of Electricity plans to start the construction of the al-Taim Electric Generating Plant in Deir Ezzor Province, Syria, in two months.

Construction of the 750MW is expected to cost about SYP45bn ($948m) and is expected to meet the increasing power demand and support energy development and stability for 15 years.

The plan also includes bringing 125 electricity transformers with a capacity of 125MW into service.

The Ministry also intends to overhaul the old electricity networks in the province and establish 20 electricity transformer stations in the near future.

Cost of the rehabilitation work is estimated at around SYP300 ($6.15m) to SYP1bn ($20.51m) for each station.
