India’s Lanco Infratech has secured an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract worth INR3.65bn ($81.26m) for the development of the 250MW AKAZ power plant in the Al-Anbar province, Iraq.

Work under the contract includes a complete EPC of an open cycle, gas-based thermal power plant with two frame gas turbine generator sets.

The plant will be equipped with two gas turbine generator sets of 125MW each, supplied by the General Electric International.

Construction of the project is expected to take about 16 months to complete, reports the Business Standard.
