Japan’s Joban Kyodo Electric Power has restarted the 600MW no 8 unit at its coal-fired Nakoso plant in Tokyo, Japan.
Operations at the unit were interrupted for prolonged maintenance work after the 9.0-magnitude earth quake hit Japan on 11 March 2011.
This is the second unit to resume operations at the tsunami-hit Nakoso plant, followed by the 600MW no 9 unit which was restarted on 30 June 2011.
The Joban Kyodo Electric Power is owned by Tokyo Electric Power and Tohoku Electric Power with each holding 49% interest, reports Reuters.
