NKT Cables has secured a DKK600m ($113.2m) contract to supply on and offshore high-voltage cables for the 389MW West of Duddon Sands offshore wind farm in the Irish Sea.
The company secured the contract from Dong energy and ScottishPower Renewables.
Under the contract NKT will manufacture and deliver 82km 155kV export cables integrated with 48 core optical fibres, 22km 155kV land cables and 155kV accessories for both the on and offshore part of the wind farm.
The cables, produced in Cologne, Germany, will be delivered during 2012 and 2013 and the installation is expected to be complete by 2013.
The wind farm is to be equipped with 108 3.6MW turbines and is expected to generated electricity sufficient to power 300,000 households.
Construction of the wind farm is expected to be completed in 2014.
